An abridged and updated version of Hildegard von Deines' 'Grundrisz der Medizin der alten Ägypter', published 25 years ago. This new version traces Egyptian medicine from the second millennium to the Roman period, using as evidence, extant papyrus texts, ostraka, and archaeological remains. Chapters cover sources, patients and diseases, the physician, Coptic and Greek medicine, and the Ebers and Smith Papyri.
