Jewish character and the fate of Jews in Russian cinema, then soviet, and again Russian cinema is the main topic of this book. This is the first study of this topic in Russian film historiography. Miron Chernenko (1931-2004), a historian of cinema, and head of the Guild of Historians of Cinema and Film Critics of Russia, started this book in 1964 and used over 500 films, both fictional and documentary, to write this story.
