The October 2015 conference in Chicago was organized as a joint special section of the concurrent American Mathematical Society's Central Sectional Meeting. The 18 refereed papers discuss the general framework of groups, rings, algebras and their representations with a particular emphasis on group rings, enveloping algebras of Lie algebras, and Hopf algebras. Specific topics include the automorphism group of rational group algebras of finite groups, symmetric groups and fixed points on modules: an application of group theory to topology, Frobenius divisibility for Hopf algebras, the lattice of sub-modules of a multiplicity-free module, and the elementary construction of Lusztig's canonical basis.
