This study assesses the prospects for investment in the global energy sector through 2030, attempting to answer questions related to capital needed to finance the construction of energy-supply infrastructure, and to the obstacles the energy sector will need to overcome to attract this investment. Seeking to stimulate debate among policy- makers, investors, and the energy industry, the study examines new capacity needs for production, transformation, and transportation, unit capital costs, and incremental capacity needs for each fuel and region.
