
OECD's annual survey of the Dutch economy. Part I briefly reviews the salient features of the downturn before considering recent trends and prospects. Part II first discusses monetary policy and monetary conditions it then surveys efforts of the authorities to achieve various goals of fiscal policy finally, it presents a progress report on structural reforms, especially in the areas of competition and competition policy. Part III deals with the labour market: the relentless increase in unemployment and non-employment the many structural rigidities and social considerations which seem to be at the root of the problem and the evolution of labour market policy and the new measures under consideration. Part IV gives a summary of the main findings and presents policy conclusions.
