Number Theory

Held at the U. of Montreal, the 2002 meeting of the Canadian Number Theory Association was organized into sessions in algebraic number theory, analytic number theory, arithmetic algebraic geometry, computational number theory, and Diophantine analysis and approximation. This volume presents 22 of the papers from the conference, addressing both broad developments and recent research results. Examples of topics addressed include Dirichlet series for squares of sums of squares, new perspectives in Arakelov geometry, recent results about (ternary) quadratic forms, and totally real integral points on a plane algebraic curve.
