Zhu Xinjian used to carve a seal for fun. The reason why he entitles the book as "Back to Reality" means that words in it are to some extent the prototype that reflects unfinished meaning comparing to his paintings. The book contains almost 300 thousand words, collecting his remarks scattered here and there in his life, about thousand years of painting history, about memory of intellectuals, about brilliant and colorful past and present. In it are delicate, smart interpretations and irrelevant self-talks, both of which are truths deep down his heart. Profound or plain, obscure or obvious, it is his characters.
