Ethics, Politics, Inequality: New Directions

Multilayered inequalities and a sense of insecurity have long been hallmarks of South African life—but now have been exacerbated by the uncertainties of Covid-19. Ethics, Policy, Inequality reflects on a range of political and socioeconomic interventions, based on an ethics of care, needed to help South Africans navigate the roiling currents of the "new normal." This latest volume in the State of the Nation series calls for active citizenship and the will and understanding to combat poverty and inequality, which in turn would bring a reconsideration of the domination, oppression, injustice, and paternalism within the democratic postapartheid state.
