The Bols'shoi Theater, the world famous ballet and opera theater in Moscow, is 225 years old. This book is about the history of opera productions in the Bol'shoi in the second half of the twentieth century. Some of these productions were directed by the author, others by his teacher, the renowned opera director Boris Pokrovskii. The book is illustrated with photographs of conductors, artists, and productions of this period.
