A mainstream, introductory differential equations course supported by Mathematica: students first learn the basic concepts which they are then able to explore using the software component. In this way, Mathematica enhances the students' problem-solving abilities and helps them develop a working understanding of the subject. Thus differential equations are combined with symbolic computing in that difficult concepts are explored on the computer, while the computer simplifies complicated tasks. Mathematica is used from the very beginning of the textbook and each theory and method is continually developed using the program. Further information and exercises are available on the Internet.
