The book can be called as the concentration of the Habermas thoughts. With the dispute for metaphysics as pointcut, he intensively discusses his criticism and reference to British and American language philosophy, especially pragmatic semantics (Pierce, Searle, and Mead, etc.). He tries to find a way for pragmatics between logics and semantics to provide solid evidence for the theory of communication action and break the premise of philosophy of consciousness under traditional sense from the angle of general linguistics. Habermas thinks that real post-metaphysics can avoid the rational trap for traditional metaphysics and also can keep the critical characteristics to enlighten reason by applying sexual methods between subjects into the concepts such as meaning and effectiveness, and subjectivity and individuality, etc.
