These are the most crucial five years in Chiang's political life which saw his stature deflate from a hailed leader who just defeated the Japanese invasion to the villain who lost mainland China to Mao Zedong. This diary was held in the Hoover Institute until 2006. Hao Bocun was the chief aide-de-camp to Chiang, Minister of Defense and Premier of the Republic of China. This book is the key to understanding the history of China and the delicate difference between the Chinese on either side of the strait.
