Translations, usually from Italian, of 15 essays in which Musi (Finno-Ugric philology, U. of Bologna) touches on several problems of shamanism, including the doubling of the shaman's soul, fire and water rites of passage, shamanism in western Europe and among North American Indians, and portrayals of shamanism from the 13th to the 19th centuries.
