This collective monograph written by researchers from different countries analyzes Russian food discourse in everyday life, magazines, advertisement, packaging materials, etc. The authors compare modern “food texts” with speech samples of the recent past, and particularly focus on the role of diet and nourishment in the political propaganda of the soviet period. There is a common point of reference in a linguistic approach, but the articles include adjacent sociolinguistic, cultural-linguistic, and ethnolinguistic aspects of analyzing food discourse.
