God breathes: the Spirit in the World

Father Gelpi examines what Christians mean when they say that they believe in the Holy Spirit. For us, the familiar term "spirit" means something very different from what it meant for the authors of the Bible when they used the Hebrew term ruah. By substituting the word "breath" for spirit, the reader gains a new appreciation of the image.
