The Empress Dowager in the book The Empress Dowager The Final Light of the Qing Empire is different from that of the previous biographies of Empress Dowager Cixi or that of historical writings of the late Qing Dynasty. The author did not rigidly adhere to the materials of official history, for there are rich historical data about the late Qing Dynasty after all; neither did the author believe the unheard-of stories and anecdotes. After all rumors and slander are too easy to defame a person in power in the last dynasty. Cixi's political career draws much attention because of the fall of the Qing Empire. It seems that the author did not elaborate Cixi's governing style, source of ideas and goal. However, some chapters in the book certainly present different answers from those in the past.
