England's Coastal Heritage: A Survey for English Heritage and the RCHME

This is a report of research commissioned by English Heritage and the RCHME which examines the character of the coastal archaeological resource and identifies future themes for survey and investigation. It includes a study of sea-level changes and a review of the environmental potential of the intertidal and coastal zones. The assesment of the archaeological record includes regional studies of the prehistoric and Roman material.It also considers the natural and human processes to which coastal archaeological remains are vulnerable and makes recommendations aimed at achieving their improved management.
