This book consists of the special topics, such as what are cultural studies, origin of cultural studies, politics of difference and cultural identity, popular culture and political economy and media research. It has collected twenty-five academic papers which describe the most important traces in the development of cultural studies. By means of cultural studies, the intellectual activities of academic intellectuals have overflowed outside the university campus and outside the traditional classical proposition. Cultural studies concern a wide range of social text involving class, gender, identity, media and popular culture. With the urgent political appeal and anxiety, cultural studies conflict with the main ideas such as traditional formalism, aestheticism, elitism and even literary doctrine, and thus have the left-wing color.
