About the Author The Author: Carol Hansen teaches English at City College of San Francisco and College of San Mateo. She received a B.A. in English from San Jose State University, an M.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Ph.D. from Arizona State University. Recipient of an English-Speaking Union Fellowship, she did research for this book at the Bodleian Library, Oxford University, England.
