The Franks in the Levant, 11th to 14th Centuries

Adopting the medieval Levantine use of Franks to mean Europeans in general, focuses on their affairs there before, during, and after the crusades, and on the subject indigenous population of the Frankish Kingdom of Jerusalem. Only 14 of the 21 articles are in English, and all are reproduced from their original publication 1969-92. They consider such topics as the neglected 12th-century writer Gerard of Nazareth, Icelanders in the crusades, the passenger list of a crusade ship, and a Melkite physician in Frankish Jerusalem and Ayyubid Damascus.
