The guidelines encourage individuals to eat a healthful dietone that focuses on foods and beverages that help achieve and maintain a healthy weight, promote health, and prevent chronic disease. The most unexpected news released so far is probably the about-face stance on cholesterol. Another biggie, sugar is the new fat!
Nutrition For Dummies, 6th Edition, will include 25% new and updated content, including what readers need to know about the new 2015Dietary Guidelines for Americans report and its suggestions for living a nutritionally-sound life. Readers will learn how to make wise food choices based on the new nutritional guidelines, and get updated RDAs on vitamins and nutritional supplements. New and updated information includes: A new focus on the environment asking people to choose more fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains and other plant-based foods. Information on worldwide trends (i.e., the fact that to date no nation has reversed the bigger body trend), new study showing that many "healthy obese" do not remain healthy.
