
This is a monograph on the economic history of Western Siberia and the adjacent Steppe regions, particularly on market fairs in the second half of the nineteenth century. The author collected a large amount of information about Siberian fairs, their scale, season and territorial distribution, specialties, connections with fairs in the central part of Russia and abroad, legal forms of transactions, role in the development of the Siberian economy and government regulation and support of fairs. Special attention is paid to developing Siberian-Asian economic ties. Statistical tables, bibliographic references, illustrations, dictionary of fairs.
