This book contains eight novelettes of Stefan Zweig. With Zweig's posthumous work "The Journey into the Past" as the topic, this book also includes "One Wonderful Night" and other famous works. "The Journey into the Past" tells a bitter love story. A poor talented young man is invited to stay in the boss' house and be his private secretary when the boss is critically ill. The boss' wife is young, beautiful and elegant. The two gradually fall in love with each other. The young man receives orders to go to Mexico on business. The First World War breaks out. Nine years later, the young man comes back home. Love is still there, but it cannot withstand the power of time and war. The two people who love each still cannot be together.
