When Shui Sheng was 12 years old his village had run out of food and people were starving. His father found the last wild carrot in the field and cut it into four pieces for the family. The father said to them: "if we don't leave, all of us will starve to death here." The mother led Shui Sheng , and his father carried his younger brother to go and seek refuge with his uncle in the city. From then on, the fate of Shui Sheng and his family remains unknown.
