Published in 1992, Ulysses is a novel by the Irish stream of consciousness writer James Joyce. In the sequence of time, this novel depicts the various experiences of the advertising salesman, Leopold Bloom, an agonized and hesitated Dubliner in one day on June 16th 1904. Joyce compares Blooms one-day wandering on the street of Dublin as Odysseuss ten years overseas wandering and portrays his disloyal wife Mollys mentality to seek paternal love. The novel applies a great deal of techniques of detail description and stream of consciousness to create a complicated and disordered time and space and formed a unique linguistic style. As the representative work of stream of consciousness novels, this novel is voted as the No.1 among the best 100 novels in the 20th century. And every year people celebrate the day June 16th as the BloomsDay.
