陆犯焉识

Lu Yanshi, a gifted scholar, was born into a Shanghai family of high social status. After the passing of his father, his stepmother used persuasive tactics to convince him to marry her niece Feng Wanyu. Entering into this relationship without an adequate foundation of love, Lu Yanshi abruptly departed, choosing to study abroad. After graduation and his return to China, Lu reentered his estranged family life, learning to fuction between his cunning stepmother and his gentle yet persevering wife. In the 1950s, because of Lu's influential family background and his radical behavior, he was labeled as counterrevolutionary. Lu, known as the Doctor from America with high intelligence and superior education experience was rehabilitated in the desert in north-west China for twenty years. In hindsight, Lu's wife, Wenyu, who was viewed as nothing in his eyes, evolved into the perfect spouse. At the conclusion of the Cultural Revolution, Lu Yanshi and Feng Wanyu were finally reunited as a couple. However, after returning to his home in Shanghai, Lu found that politics had completely changed and he was no longer effective nor utilize in a position of leadership. In addition, Wanyu who faithfully waited for her husband throughout the years suffered serious health issues resulting in extensive memory loss right before his return home.
