The book introduces solitary wave theory and the experimental research progress; it aims at giving specific instructions about the properties of the soliton and solitary wave through introducing the most intuitive physical examples of the mechanism. This book is neither a simple display of a series of mathematical theories, nor experimental facts. This book is a combination of theoretical and experimental discussions. Solitary Wave in Water Trough: it mainly concerns the KdV equation of shallow-water waves and the nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLS equation).
