French East India Company and the Trade of the Indian Ocean

This book deals mainly with the trade situation in India among competing imperial powers in the country in the 17th and 18th Centuries. In his essays, the late Indrani Ray analyzes often-neglected French sources from this time period and comes to a conclusion that tends to reinforce some of the better known propositions the nature and orientation of pre-modern Indian trade and the making of its material context.
