Hellenistic Royal Portraits

Alexander and the Hellenistic kings brought a distinctive form of kingship to Greece and the East that was powerfully expressed in artistic images of the ruler. Analyzing surviving portraits on coins and in sculpture, and setting these in the wider political context of the period, this study offers a historical interpretation of the royal image from Alexander to Cleopatra.
