This book analyzes the history of the artistic method and technique of montage, and how it became the leading method of Russian avant-garde art. Montage became very popular in the culture of the 20th century after it was heavily used in the new art of cinema. Later it was used in several arts: literature, poster graphics, theater. During its life montage several times changed its functions and semantics. The author analyzes the role of this technique in the works of Russian avant-garde writers and film directors: S.
