Globalization: Technology, Literacy & Curriculum highlights the dramatic transformations sweeping our educational system due to the second generation of the Internet, Web 2.0, and the critical need to train teachers and students in new and emerging technologies regardless of limited funding, outdated infrastructures, and narrow shelf life of applications. Successful "step-by-step instructional methodologies and resources in utilizing open-source (free) software in literacy, mathematics, and science, including free web hosting and course management systems, are provided. This textbook if for both pre-service and veteran early childhood and elementary school teachers and students of modern language and literature who need to learn the new terms and tools of Web 2.0 and “user- friendly” strategies for integrating emerging technologies into the curriculum. The new meaning of “literacy” and instructional strategies as a result of the Digital Age are provided. The critical need to change educational paradigms to reflect technology as a medium for daily use, implement self- regulatory strategies for mastering new technologies, and the requisite tenets of promoting cultural values and community standards in educational technology are also discussed.
